SENSE-sational Science – June

Teachers move from one station to the next at the SENSEsational Science program.

Teachers move from one station to the next at the SENSEsational Science program.

The Linnaeus Teaching Garden is pleased to be a partner in the SENSEsational Science program sponsored by Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance (TRSA). The goal of the program is to provide teachers with the tools to incorporate science into the classrooms in the pre-school through middle school grades.

A group of elementary and middle school teachers spend a full day at the Linnaeus Teaching Garden in June. We set up teaching stations on topics such as soils, the water cycle, composting, edible parts of plants and beneficial insects. Each station provides the teachers a wealth of ideas on ways they could use our garden to incorporate science in their classrooms.

We incorporate an aspect of the Oklahoma standards for elementary and middle school science into each workstation.

2017 Dates for the Linnaeus Teaching Garden:

  • Elementary Teachers: Monday-Tuesday, June 12-13, 9am-3pm
  • Middle School Teachers: Monday-Tuesday, June 26-27, 9am-3pm
